Let's Get Cooking!My passion is cooking and eating great food. This didn’t happen overnight – it developed over several years during my spare time while working in health care as an educator. I have taken cooking, baking and food safety courses at the Nova Scotia Community College. As well I have benefited from programs offered by restaurants as well as on-line courses. I began T Spoon Cooking by offering classes and meal plans to friends and family. This has helped them develop the skills necessary to plan and prepare meals that are nutritious, delicious and economical while learning to love creating in the kitchen with confidence. Growing up I didn’t pay any attention to what was happening in the kitchen. Food was placed on the table and I ate it. What more was there to know? My love of cooking (& baking) began after I married and to be honest it took a few years for me to realize I loved it. By this time I had two young children and it was important to me that they were eating foods that not only tasted good but were also healthy choices. My interest in creating delicious meals that were also nutritious was born. The biggest obstacle to this was time. I slowly began creating meal plans that would maximize time and minimize my stress. Sunday dinner became a large meal that would provide leftovers for the week. What kid wants leftovers? Certainly not mine! I quickly learned how to re-purpose Sunday dinner into meals for Monday and sometimes Tuesday that looked and tasted different from the original – and my family loved them! The bonus became a financial savings. We threw out very little food and our grocery dollars stretched further. My motto became: Don’t let time, stop you from eating well! Today, I want to share my passion and learning with others, especially those who are reluctant to cook or bake. My goal is to coach, support and empower you to be happy and comfortable in your own kitchen making delicious food creations. This can be whatever you want it to be, cooking or baking for a family meal, a friendly get together or a festive event.
