Baking Lessons

Are you interested in learning to bake, but are worried that it’s too scientific and complicated?

It can be scary if you haven’t done much of it before. When I first started baking it helped me not to think about the end product and how pretty it might look (or not) but rather focus on enjoying the process of the experience.

Questions answered while you bake so that you have instant feedback on how you are doing.

Why bake?

Grocery stores and bakeries have every type of baked good you can imagine, from professional pies and pastries, to breads and cookies. While a lot if bakeries tend to use high quality, preservative free ingredients, their products are pricey and what you might feel like eating may not be available that day.

Grocery stores rely heavily on pre-packaged baked goods with what seems like an endless selection. One of the problems is that the ingredient list contains so many chemicals and preservatives that are not recognizable.

Baking from scratch can save money while allowing you to control the quality of the ingredients that you and your family are eating. Sure, that devils food cake with frosting has a few (ok more than a few) calories but home-made cake still has less calories than store bought and when made with real food, your body knows how to use it. I guess its important to point out you shouldn’t eat the whole cake in one sitting!

Give baking a chance and you will likely find your own reasons to love it. The results are very satisfying, that sense of creating something from scratch that is delicious and comforting.

Baking does sound a bit old-fashioned but the process of measuring, mixing, and the scent of fresh bread or a homemade cake wafting through your home are simple pleasures that you can learn to enjoy.

Classes are designed for the beginner baker.
